The Arts Council of Tuscaloosa offers several educational programs to area schools. The
Bama Fanfare Series bring professional touring groups to the Bama Theatre in Tucaloosa.
The programs are presented to school children from preschool through 5th grade. The
Fanfare Caravan brings shows into the schools. The Caravan program this year is available
for children pre-K through 2nd grade and will feature the Birmingham Children's Theatre
productions of Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs and The Elf & The Shoemaker. Also
available is the Spectra Program. This program offers extended learning packages and
in-school concerts or demonstrations for children. All programs are taught by very
talented musicians, dancers, poets, and visual artists who are wonderful with children.

The
Arts in Education department at The Arts
Council, Inc. seeks to incorporate the arts into the
curriculum of grades K-12 through several programs. These programs
include Professional Development workshops for teachers,
Artist in Residency Programs, Art Ventures! Summer Day Camp, CAMP
SUCCESS and Panoply activities including Fifth Grade Days, the
Student Art Tent, Kids' Art Yard and the Billboard Competition.

mission of the Shelby County Arts Council is to support, nurture
and promote arts and cultural organizations and artist in Shelby
County, enhancing the quality of life for citizens and promoting
economic growth. The Shelby County Arts Council serves the entire
community, reaching all economic levels, ages and races. The
Shelby County Arts Council benefits the community by improving the
quality of life and making the community a better place to live
and work. It benefits individuals and youth by providing an outlet
for creativity and a means to nurture talent. Children that
develop their artistic talents improve their ability to learn and
develop self-discipline. The long-term goal of the Shelby County
Arts Council is to build a world-class arts education and
performance facility to serve the citizens of Shelby County with
premier arts programs.
