This list has been developed through a panel process. Artists that want to be included on this list must apply to the Council, and are selected through a review process that involves a panel of peers and the Council staff.  Once qualified, artists are listed for three years, at which time they must renew their application.

Schools are encouraged to check references and interview candidates before committing to an artist.  Whereas the Council feels strongly that the artists on this list are highly qualified artists, we do not guarantee a good fit for any particular school or situation.  Background checks are the responsibility of the individual school.

Schools that wish to apply for an artist residency grant may use an artist on this list with a guarantee that the artistic quality of the program will not be questioned in the application process.  Applications will be reviewed for feasibility and appropriate venues.

FUNDING

Schools wishing to apply for an artist residency may do so by completing Form 1 & 2 of the grant application (see pages 25-35 of Grant Guidelines).  The Council operates its artist residency program on a particular formula.  This formula is a statement of the funding available through the Council.  Some artists may request higher payments than are indicated in this formula.  If a school chooses to hire an artist that requires higher fees, the school is responsible for covering the balance in fees.  The Council will fund artist residency programs for a maximum of four consecutive years.  It is our hope that after the fourth year, the school will have been able to seek other funding in order to maintain the residency.  Click here for the charts that indicates funding for 6 weeks, 9 weeks, 18 weeks (one semester) and 36 weeks (full year).

GUEST ARTISTS

Artists that teach within their particular art form, offering age appropriate instruction in the arts.

COLLABORATING ARTISTS

These artists not only teach within their particular field but also collaborate with classroom instructors to integrate their art with other content fields.  These artists are qualified to hold professional development sessions with classroom teachers and administrators.  It is recommended that residencies for these artists be designed to include time for professional development seminars and collaboration with classroom teachers.

ARTS TECHNOLOGY SPECIALISTS

These artists are qualified to teach students and classroom teachers in the specialized fields of theatrical production and arts technology.
