This grant program supports projects and activities that serve to increase public
awareness and exposure to literature and the state’s literary heritage and to support
contemporary Alabama poets and writers of fiction, creative non-fiction and other
literary genres. Projects and activities may include literary festivals, conferences
or other gatherings, publications and community readings involving local writers.
Education and outreach projects are priorities. Governmental and non-profit organizations
are eligible to apply.
Also under this grant program cash awards made to individual artists in the literary
arts based on merit of work, career achievement, career potential and service to
the state.
